Teams, folders, and projects
How Sunrise organizes work for personal and Workspace accounts.
Teams, folders, and projects
Sunrise uses a simple hierarchy to organize work.
Personal vs Workspace accounts
| Account type | Top-level container | Label in app |
|---|---|---|
| Personal Gmail | Folder | Folder / Folders |
| Google Workspace | Team | Team / Teams |
When you sign in, Sunrise detects your account type and provisions the right structure.
Hierarchy
Workspace account:
Team → Project → Tasks
Personal account:
Folder → Project → Tasks
- Teams / Folders group related projects (e.g., “Marketing”, “Personal”)
- Projects contain tasks for a specific initiative
- Tasks are the individual work items
Creating projects
- Open a team or folder from the sidebar
- Click New project
- Name your project and start adding tasks
Each project has its own task list and can use list, kanban, or calendar view independently.
Sharing
Teams, folders, and projects can be shared with specific people. A project always has at least the access of its parent team or folder. See Inviting teammates for membership versus sharing.
Inviting teammates
Workspace organizations can invite members to join the company. Sharing a team or project does not add someone to the organization. See Inviting teammates for details.
