Google Tasks sync

Sunrise maintains a dedicated list in Google Tasks called Sunrise. Changes sync two-way between Sunrise and Google Tasks.

How it works

  1. When you connect Google Tasks, Sunrise creates (or finds) a list named “Sunrise” in your Google Tasks account.
  2. Tasks you create in Sunrise appear in that list.
  3. Tasks you create or complete in Google Tasks sync back to Sunrise.

What syncs

  • Task title
  • Completion status (done / not done)
  • Due date (when set in Sunrise)

Where to see synced tasks

  • In Sunrise: Today, Upcoming, and project views
  • In Google Tasks: The “Sunrise” list in the Google Tasks app (mobile, web, or Gmail sidebar)

Tips

  • Complete tasks on your phone via Google Tasks — they update in Sunrise
  • Add quick tasks in Google Tasks — they appear in Sunrise on next sync
  • Sunrise is the source of truth for project organization; Google Tasks shows the flat Sunrise list

Troubleshooting

If tasks are not syncing:

  1. Check that Google Tasks is connected in Sunrise settings
  2. Ensure you granted Tasks permissions during sign-in
  3. Try refreshing Sunrise — sync runs automatically in the background
