How Google Tasks sync works in Sunrise
One of Sunrise’s core promises is that your tasks stay connected to Google Tasks. Here’s how it works.
The Sunrise list
When you connect Google Tasks, Sunrise creates (or finds) a list named Sunrise in your Google Tasks account. This is your sync target.
Every task you create in Sunrise that should sync appears in this list. Every task you add or complete in Google Tasks in this list flows back to Sunrise.

Sync runs automatically in the background. You don’t need to manually trigger it.
Where to use each app
Use Sunrise when you want:
- Project organization (teams, folders, projects)
- Planning views (Today, Upcoming, kanban)
- Calendar context alongside tasks
- Team collaboration
Use Google Tasks when you want:
- Quick capture on mobile
- Gmail sidebar task list
- Voice assistant integration
Both stay in sync through the Sunrise list.
